As I seek to understand the feminine experience, I look inward and toward the women in my family. Within these experiences, I discovered a sense of commonality and connection with the women in history that stretches far beyond my immediate relationships. Using the imagery of quilts as my guide, my sculptures are a way for me to interpret my own experiences. Quilts are inherently narrative, each fabric weaving its own story at the very same time that it helps to tell the story of the work as a whole. Through clay and quilt patterns, this body of work explores the interplay between my personal experience with femininity and the women who came before me.
